FOXG1也被稱作腦因子1（BF-1），是一種抑制性轉(zhuǎn)錄因子，在端腦發(fā)育、皮質(zhì)神經(jīng)元分化、神經(jīng)發(fā)生及軸突外生性生長等過程中起重要調(diào)控作用。FOXG1表達局限于發(fā)育中的端腦神經(jīng)元，并參與了Rett綜合征先天性變異（RTTCV）。
